Is Quickbooks POS good for a consignment shop? If not, what point of sale setup would you recommend?

I've researched how to set up consignment items in Quickbooks POS, but it appears to be cumbersome to set for each item. 95% of my inventory will be on consignment, so I'd prefer my POS system to be as easy as possible (on the other hand, it *is* Quickbooks, and lots of people seem to like it). I'd like to know if anyone has used Quickbooks for a consignment business and how they like it. Any other recommendations would be great. Thanks!

  1. My wife uses ConsignPro by Visual Horizons. It's very easy to use and works great. It's a little pricey, though.
  2. No consignment business but used quickbooks for years. It works out great as long as you input EVERYTHING. otherwise the reports are not accurate. As far as sales, it works great for invoicing and keeping track of customers and money.
  3. Check out this site. There may be links to some of the software packages available, and on the sharing page, you'll find discussions - and can initiate your own - about the relative merits of each.
