a HP puter. saying operation could not be completeted print spooler service is not running. Why? how to fix?

i can not get the pos to allow me to use my printer or my cdr drive

  1. assuming windows 2000 - right click "My computer" select "Manage" Select "Services and applications" Select "services" find "printe spooler" if it's not started, right click it and select "start"
  2. I've been thru this with an HP printer. Go to Control Panel and Click on Administrative Tools, Component Services, Local Services and scroll down to print spooler and turn it on. You may have to reboot. If it still isn't going go thru the steps again. It is a headache but it will work. Don't know about CD Rom drive. Probably a different issue.
