How to install star sp300 printer and configure with Software to Generate Receipt?

How to Install Sp300: I have package installer of star drivers and i m installing sp312 driver, but it not working for sp300 full cutter printer. i have also tried sp317,321 etc. but its printing test page only question marks(???????). When i sent print from note pad it does not work. How to Configure it with POS Software: Do i need to write a software to configure it with my application developed in vb6 or it will simply work like other printers (epson etc.) ?

1. I have seen loads of this printer install at POS and most programs use a d driver installed from CD It should as if you have the wrong driver installed, so check that first. there are a set of switches on the bottom which give the printer an ID I can't think of anything else
