Citizen Printer

Please recommend solid HP inkjet printer with Wi-Fi for mostly documents?

I need to replace my HP Deskjet 930c soon. It prints fine but I have to grab the paper on the way out before the broken piece tries to eat it. I've had 2 HP printers, each lasting over 10 years. Also, they seem to have the most Wi-Fi choices near $150. To replace the 930c, the HP site recommends Deskjet 6940 (about $100), Deskjet 6988 ($130) or Deskjet 6940dt ($150). The "dt" model includes a duplexer, extra paper tray and full-size cartridges. The other 2 models come with "starter" cartridges only. I don't print much in color, but need borderless when I do. I read HP 02 series cartridges dry out if not used frequently, so I'm trying to stay away from them. I've read reviews on the 6940 and they range from "it's the best printer I've ever had" to "it's defective, the paper jams and it stops recognizing the cartridges". If you have any experience with these printers, or can offer a recommendation - even a different brand - please do.

  1. HP has printer that are wi-fi ready which means that they have to be plugged into your router. If you get lexmark which are better then they have wi-fi cards in them for true wireless printing
  2. I have an HP printer that uses 02 cartridges and I've never had one dry out. And I only print a few pages per week. HP ink is high quality and will last 6 months in a printer without drying out. Remanufactured 02 cartridges are another story, though. I wouldn't recommend an 02 series printer for your needs anyway, since this printer uses 5 color cartridges, and you mentioned you don't print that much in color. 2 of the cartridges in the 02 series are only used for photo printing, hence they would just sit in your printer and not be used. I recommend to you , though, the HP 6988, which replaced the 6940. It uses the 96/97 cartridge combination, has your wireless, and I've seen them in several offices where I work. They seem to be pretty good.
