Any tips on progamming an application for a thermal POS printer? How do I fix the lenght of the receipt?

How hard would it be to change the length? It seems to work fine with the TSP 600 with the manual cutter but not with the auto cutter.

Ummm...wouldn't it be easier to make the auto cutter trigger at an appropriate time? Contact the manufacturer of the printer in question and they will likely give you the command strings that control that programatically so you can fix that in your software.
