I want to use dot matrix printer fonts while printing my excel worksheet please help?
I am using TVS Ms 245 dot matrix printer to print my excel worksheets. I am not in a position to use the DMP fonts say Draft/serif etc. when i print my worksheet. The fonts i am using while making the spread sheet is only coming. The manual says to get DMP printer fonts I have to use FONT LOCk in on position. But I am not able to find or configure Please advise how to get DMP fonts rather than the computer fonts when printing. Thank you

- Its tough to figure out exactly what the problem is but I think it is because many fonts are proportional, whereas your TVS printer prints using non-proportional fonts. I checked out the specification on TVS MSP245 at this site: http://www.supremeindia.com/particular_product.aspx?prod_ID=684 What caught my attention was this: "Character Pitch (cpi) - 10/12/15" That's the old standard for dot-matrix printing when using any non-proportional fonts. That means characters are exactly the same width. So the letter "I" occupies the same amount of space on page as does letter "W". Most newer printers can accept proportional fonts (varying sizes). What I suggest you do is change your font in the Excel sheet to use non-proportional fonts. The best one I recommend is to use "Courier New" font. I suggest you set the font size at 8 points, then auto-size your column widths. Then print it. See what it looks like. If printing is slow or paper is expensive, you can test print the file without printing. (Sound crazy?) Save the file as "Formatted Text (Space Delimited)" which uses file extension ".prn". Then, open the ".prn" file using Notepad. Make certain the Notepad has Word Wrap turned off. That will give you exact layout of text only. It should be an exact match of what the dot-matrix printer will produce. I hope this helps, Kind Regards, QwertyKPH
