How popular are these room service-styled food programs in hospitals?
I've been reading a lot about the new thing in hospital dining which is to make it like a room service program where the patient can order what they want when they want. Are these programs popular or are the paper and pencil menus still number one? For the room service system, does anyone know what kind of printers they print the orders on? Are the POS printers like restaurants and fast food places use?

- While I am sure that the old paper-and-pencil menues are still the most popular (for expediency's sake) I can tell you that, when I was recently in the hospital, it was the room-service style and it made all the difference. The food was what I wanted, it was cooked to order, and the selection was huge. I really liked it. No idea what kind of printer is used in most hospitals.
- They are popular initially, but are not really feasible. There is still an actual menu for the persons to choose from, but they can't order when they want. For example breakfast ordering must be done between 7 to 10 AM, lunch from 11 AM-1 PM etc. I like in Missouri and the few hospitals in my area that did have this type of menu system, have all gone back to the old way of doing things.
