What is the Model # of your HP Inkjet Printer, & what HP Inkjet Cartridges Does It Use ?
Such As: My HP Deskjet F-340 All-In-One uses 21 Black, 22 Tri-color, & 58 Photo. It would also be helpful if you would say wheather your printer is a "Stand-Alone", or if it needs to be connected to your computer to operate. Other than the Inkjet Cartridges HP says you need for your printer, have you found any other HP Inkjet Cartridges that will interchange? Has your printers firmware "Locked Out" the HP-96 Black? Thanks, Ken C. "Little Covered Wagon Cartridge X-change"

- I have an Deskjet 842C, 712C and an officejet 4215 with the office jet it can take a 56, 27, and 21 for black without incident, however being that the 21 is ridiculously low capacity I will not use it. It takes the 58 and 59 photo as well. For colour it will take the 22, 28 and 57, but again the 22 being as it is low cap will not be used in that printer. Although it is designed only to take a 56 and 57 it can handle all of the grey top block style. I am going to try a 54 when i can get my hands on a core. It can be used as a stand alone. There is a comprehensive menu on it which will allow you to print out a test page. The 842 can take a 15 and 45 provided you fool it with the tape trick. Normally I just feed it a 15 anyhow. It take a 17 for colour with no substitutions. You cannot print from it as a standalone however a cleaning and test page can be done by holding down power and tapping page feed 3 or 4 times. The 712 again can take a 15 and 45 with the tape trick, however is designed for a 45. the colour is 23 with no substitutions. Again because this is a 12 year old printer it cannot be used as a standalone but will product a test page by holding down power and tapping three times. (all older model HP printers have such a function)
