Existing scanner/printer is incompatible with Vista- what would YOU do?
I have a Canon F30 inkjet scanner/printer that is 5 years old and works FINE. Recently, my CPU bit the dust, so I bought a new oshibalaptop, for portability's sake. When I went to install my printer's drivers, I found out it wouldn't accept Vista. No problem, I figured, so I went to Canon's website to install the prober, updated driver, and found out CANON DIDN"T BOTHER TO MAKE ONE, NOR DID THEY PLAN TO! Their customer support" was snide and offered me an unspecified "customer loyalty discount"(probably 10%) on a NEW purchase. I NEED a scanner for business(I'm a part-time cartoonist, plus I sell a LOT of comics on eBay), but I have a handicapped child and hence not a lot of money. Is there a fix, should, I buy a used model, a new one, or is it possible to piggyback a scanner through the printer function(that WILL still function if I download a non-Microsoft-approved emulator)?

- I wouldn't use Vista. A simple, free upgrade to Ubuntu Linux is what I'd do. It would cost me nothing and I'd be able to do everything I wanted to do.
- Well I look in the NET -no drivers for your scanner/printer for Vista. What would I do-I would install Windows XP- Vista is the pits-tooo many problems.Since you have a broken computer that had XP on it you can install XP with your old code from your old computer on your Laptop-IT'S LEGAL to use XP again-since your old computer is dead:YES you will have to register it again per phone-but that is no problem. The only thing you have to do after you install XP is to install the driver you need for your laptop-Modem,video card, sound, etc.-BUT that is no problem- That's the cheapest way to do it.
- I wouldn't have been stupid enough to buy Vista in the first place. If it ain't broke, don't fix it
- I agree 100% with back to XP. Just make sure that the Toshiba drivers for XP is in your cd. I assume that your Tosh was preloaded with Vista upon delivery. If need some support in installing XP, let us know. On another topic, my question. My neighbor showed me 2 boxes of comics dating back from 1966. I checked ebay, and noticed that most of them sell at around 25 cents average. I like to help her, but is it worthwhile to even put it on ebay like you do, or is there a certain series that are in demand? I was going to scan the covers for her, but the going prices may be a let down.
