POS (point of sale) floreant info? And hardware questions...?

Im new to this and my knowledge is limited to being a bartender in a small restaurant and using this... POS is a software, a complete system where hardware is all connected to this software... or what? I found a website where i can download POS Floriant (http://www.floreantpos.com/) .. so can i simply download this, get a monitor, reciept printer, cash drawer, etc, connect it all, and I'm good to go? This would be for a small restaurant/bar with only a couple servers and one computer to place orders. Any and all info is helpful! Thanks!
