Is there a quality difference between Nylon Print Ribbon and Fabric print Ribbon?

Print ribbons and ribbon cartridges used in impact printers ( dot and line matrix printers) are refered to as Nylon ,Fabric ,or Nylon Fabric quality, could any one tell differences,advantages, disadvantages etc, if any? thanks

  1. yes, one is made of nylon and one is made of fabric. Disadvantages: you have a dot matrix printer. Advantages: people will think that it's quaint you have an antiquated piece of hardware you actually want to use.
  2. nylon print ribbons give great quality the first pass through the ribbon..... and then degrage terribly after that fabric ribbons.. initial quality not as good as nylon ribbons, but last longer with acceptable results (you can go several times around all the ribbon fabric) I've never heard of Nylon Fabric quality, so can't comment
  3. Nylon tends to give you a sharper print quality since it is made from a more smooth continuous surface, but it also is mostly likely, one-time use and more expensive. The fabric is longer lasting since it can be run past the print heads more than once before running out of ink. Fabric may also be re-inked, which few ever attempt. For most people I recommend fabric unless they really need that small measure of better quality that Nylon gives them.
