what is the difference between impact and nonimpact printer?

1. Impact printers are like typewriters they hit an inked tape to imprint the letters on the paper. Non Impact either are ink jet that sprays the ink on the paper or can be laser where you use a toner cartridge and a laser to imprint the paper.
2. Impact Printers ...for example Dot Matrix, Daisy Wheel use impact of pin to hit an inked ribbon against the paper, the letters/ print is formed of dots. The 'Daisy Wheel' uses a wheel, with individual letters on the ends of the daisy petal, the wheel turns to select the letter, that letter then is struck to hit the ribbon against the paper Non - Impact printers, ink jet and laser do not 'hit' anything to anything. Impact Printers are very noisy....
