Know of any impact printers that can handle multiple multi-part forms?
I have been asked to locate an impact printer that is capable of printing 6 to 8 different multi-part forms when a client arrives in the office. Is anyone aware of such printers? If so, what has been your experience with them? How much maintenance do they require? I forgot one additional requirement. They want these to be pinfed forms. The printer would need to handle at least 4 pinfed forms, but they are asking for 6 to 8 pinfed multipart forms.

- Okidata still makes a solid line of impact printers, which is what I'm assuming you are looking for: http://www.okidata.com/mkt/html/nf/SIDM.html Scroll down to the Pacemark series for printers capable of 8-10 sheets. I've had great success with these, but don't underestimate - you're going to need the big ones to get through more than 5-6 sheets.
- Does epson LX-300 can't do that? we have 5multipart it the copies at the last page is still ok..
- Your question is a bit unclear. Are you saying that you want to print to 6-8 part forms or have 6-8 different forms on hand? Assuming that its 6-8 part, a 9-pin or heavy duty dot matrix is the go. The pins are larger to get through to the last form. You also need to have an idea of print volume. For relatively low volume (less than 100 pages per day) here are a couple of choices Lexmark 2480 http://www.lexmark.com/uncomplicate/product/home/812/0,7044,239544855_241149080_242487084_en_0_1,00.html Epson FX2190 http://www.epson.com/cmc_upload/0/000/025/862/FX2190_CatSht.pdf TallyGenicom 2265 http://www.tallygenicom.com/products/pdfrender.cfm?Model=2265 If you have a bit more volume but not ridiculous heavier duty dot matrix may be the trick Lexmark 4227 http://www.lexmark.com/uncomplicate/product/home/876/0,7044,239544855_241149080_242488172_en_0_1,00.html TallyGenicom 2280 http://www.tallygenicom.com/products/product_features.cfm?Model=2280 Epson DFX9000http://www.epson.com/cmc_upload/0/000/057/641/DFX9000_CatSheet.pdf For more than 5-6000 sheets of 8 part per day you probably will want to consider a line matrix printer. My big suggestion, send 3-400 sheets & some sample data to each manufacturer you're considering & get them to print it in one run. Then check the bottom copy to see if you're happy. Also make sure you're happy with the sales, parts & service coverage for the product near you. What will it cost you if the printer is down for two weeks off in repair? But there is a bigger question.....Why are you printing 8 part? Is it just what you've got in the stationery cupboard? Is it given to you by a courier company? I suggest you go through exactly where all those parts are going & see if they're still needed. That in itself may save you considerable pain & expense. If its just to archive the form, you may want to consider Forms Management software to automatically archive the form rather than print it. Not only will you save the administrative hassle but save storage.
