epson lx 300 - can i use the upper or lower part of the ribbon?

i want to maximize the usage of the LX300 printer ribbon. it seems that it only uses the middle part of the ribbon, now i want to use the upper or the lower part, like in the way a typewriter ribbon is used.

1. A ribbon? Holy cr@@ I haven't seen on of those in probably 8 or 10 years. 2. I'm not in awe as the other guy was. I'm a printer tech and still work on these regularly. unfortunately by design you can not change the position of the ribbon in the printer. They are not like the typewriters. But where I do agree with the previous answerer is that after searching the cheapest I found was $4 and the highest $8. That is a pretty minimal cost. Hate to rain on your parade there. Anyway hope that helps. Good luck!
