Is there any possible salvaging a printer from a yard sale?

theres a white ribbon looking strip attached to ink cartridge base the other end of it is not attached and when i turn it on it seems to slide to hard into the ends of the printer what or where does the other end go its a lexmark print/trio X1150

  1. Printers are so cheap now, that having one fixed is not really economical.
  2. The "white ribbon looking strip attached to ink cartridge" is a ribbon cable. IOW, it holds the wiring that connects the cartridge's nozzle electronics to a controller board inside the printer. The movement of the printhead/cartridge cabs at the ends of their travel are controlled by photosensors; yours are apparently not "sensing". These too may be disconnected from the controller. Open up the printer and look around for where these things would plug into. Of course, it may also mean that the controller board(s) is/are missing.
