What is the difference between a 9 pin dot matrix printer and a 24 pin dot matrix printer?

Public Comments

  1. A dot matrix printer uses a series of small 'pins' to form character impressions on the paper. There are 2 common pin configurations in use, 9 pin and 24 pin. The 24 pin printer has a larger amount of smaller pins to make up the area, so it generally has better quality of character formations.
  2. As the name suggests - 1 has 9 pins and the other 24. Dot matrix printing is done by pins hitting the paper through the ribbon. More the pins, sharper and faster the printing. Besides that, ofcourse 24 pin-head is costlier
