How to print from Word to a receipt (POS) printer?
Is therea way to use an Epson TM-T88IV printer to print from MS word. I downlaoded the drivers, but I cannot seem to print anything. The connection on the back of th eprinter is that of a parallel DB-25 cable and says rs-232. So i took a cable which connected my serial port on the comp. to the parallel on the printer. But nothing seems to print, not even the test page. The pritner status is "Ready" on the control panel. Any suggestions will be helpful. Thanks. The port on the back of the pritner is a db25 female (indentical to the ones commonly found on the back of computers) and the cable i am using to connect it goes straight to my serial port. the cable is a female to female since the serial port on the back of my computer is male (with the pins sticking out).

- look at the trouble shooting place...see if the computer and ther printer really connected with each other..maybe the computer cant read that there is new modem connected 2 it..if u cant try to look at the drive of the computer and see printers over there and set up what kind of printer u are using..
- The interface on the printer is "Serial" not parallel. RS232 is a serial I/F. The DB-25 cable connector is a serial connection on a printer. You are confusing the DB-25 parallel I/F connectors commonly found on the back of computers as being the same on a printer, this is not correct. A parallel connector on a printer would be a D 36 leaf contact type connector, not pins, with a spring clip on each end to hold it in place, not screws. You should never hook up a serial I/F to a parallel I/F as the serial uses + & - 12vdc for data signals which can damage the parallel's 5vdc drivers. Find a serial I/F cable to hook up to your computer (depending on your computer, it may be a D type 9-pin (common on newer computers) or D-type 25-pin plug (on older computers). The cable end for the computer will be a female type (as opposed to a male type for parallel) and the appropriate DB-25 end for the printer. Set the printer interface for COM1 in the printer's I/F settings and set the baud rate, stop bits and parity settings to match the printer's settings. Now you should be able to print. Best of luck. Feel free to contact me if you have other questions about serial I/F.
