  1. if you buy a brand name ink cartridge, it must be the same brand as your printer. there are generic brand inks that you can use but make sure it's compatible with your printer. also, if you still have a warranty on your printer, you might want to rethink the generic brand because if you use it and something goes wrong with your printer - buttons, wiring, displays, etc. - it will cancel your warranty. but generic brands WILL work.
  2. If you're considering buying a refill kit, don't. Don't waste your money on the "Universal" refill kits because they can't possibly be formulated to match every cartridge and most cartridges contain inks specifically formatted for a particular printer. Compatible ink cartridges or remanufactured cartridges have come a long way in terms of quality. Most are equally as good as the original brand name inks and they're usually a fraction of the cost. Shop at a reputable dealer with great products, a great warranty, great Customer support and free shipping. In Canada, try Inkjet Oasis.
  3. Universal Refill kits are a big hassle, and will end up ruining your printer. I used Refill kits a few times, and it worked, but the after two refills, the printer died. On the other hand, I have been using remanufactured cartridges for about 2 years now, without ever having a problem. I print about 500 pages a day (I print church bulletins, and invitations to school functions), so it's safe to say I put a lot of use on it. I buy all my remanufactured cartridges online, and while they are just a tad pricier than Universal refills (about 2$ more per cartridge than buying a refill kit), it is still almost 80% off the regular price you would pay for original cartridges. I have been buying through 123Inkjets for a while now, and they offer super customer service, great prices and specials, plus they ship for free.
  4. Well :according to that yes you can get those "InkCartriges refilled by going over towards Comp USA retail store local area in town but if they are still in business call them &find out ok ?"
  5. In my experience, refills are not recomended for both quality of print and longevity of the printer. The money saved now will be spent later when you need to replace the printer. Granted, refills have come a long way from the early Bubble Jet technology............but I will spend the extra on the manufacturer's cartridges than deal with the issues later. Also, if you are under warranty, you will immediately void the warranty once a refill or third party cartridge is used.
