PANASONIC KX-P1123 a few questions?

I am ordering this for fairly cheap I run windows vista and have a HP C6280 all in one printer for every day use. I am buying this dot matrix printer for tattoo stencils> I was told I dont need a ribbon ( is that the same thing as a cartridge ) and how do I hook it up?

1. I don't know why you don't need a ribbon as that is how the printer creates the images/characters on the page, but maybe you're going to be using something special for your stencils. The ribbon cartridge holds the ink ribbon and is placed in the printer around the printhead and the printhead pins strike it as it moves past and places the ink on the paper. The printer came standard with a parallel interface, so you would need to have a parallel cable that would connect to it. Depending on your computer and available ports would dictate which cable you could use.
