Can I connect a thermal receipt printer to my PC (USB), then print Word templates? Or do I need POS software? Can I connect a thermal receipt printer to my PC via USB (assuming it has USB compatibility), then print Microsoft Word templates? Or do I need quickbooks or something equivalent?

I want to print receipt to thermal printer? I have developed a inventory software in VB where sale invoice or receipt can be printed in A4 size paper. These reports have been generated by crystal report. To get used this software in point of sale, bar code fecilities has been developed. But the main problem is that after the items entered by bar code reader in the form, how the receipt or sale invoice can be printed in a tiny size paper or slip using thermal printer? Do you know how to change it to 2-color mode? It's currently only printing black. I would like black and red. I know it's capable, I just don't know how to set it. i have to keep turning my champpos thermal printer on and off? my printer wont print stuff unless it's turned off and then back on. it should always print when i close my table or just click to print receipt in my restaurant system. the system i use is Business Plus Accounting Restaurant Professional Version 8.0. Why would the magnetic strip on a credit card scan; if wrapped in plastic wrap, when it originally wouldn't. I work at a hotel, and our room charge/key cards often don't scan on the first couple of tries. If we wrap them in plastic wrap, or thermal paper from the receipt printer; most of the time they will then scan successfully. We are scanning them when a guest is making a purchase at a computer/register. We hardly ever have this problem with regular credit cards, just the hotel's cards. Just wondering what is the science involved. Thanks
