Black streaks on my inkjet CD-Rs? I have an Epson R340 and I use it to print on inkjet CDs all the time. Most of the time it's awesome, but every couple dozen discs it'll drop a load of dark ink across the CD and ruin it. It's a black streak usually, going perpendicular to the printer head motion. It'll often leave a blob of ink on the edge of the CD too, which I have to wipe off with a tissue. I thought maybe the heads were dirty, but the next CD after a bad one is always just fine. I use Epson ink, and changing the cartridge seems to have no effect. It's not a huge deal, but it does waste a few CDs per project. Suggestions?

Could inkjet printers write data for archiving to be read by scanners? Scanners can read a printed surface to several hundreds of dots per inch resolution. Inkjet printers can print dots in four colours to a similar accuracy. Would it be possible to use the four colours as a coding mechanism for storing information on good quality coated papers, which could be formulated to last for millenia? Many tens of megabytes of data would fit onto an A4 sheet, which would look grey, being covered by dots in the four printing colours cyan, magenta, yellow and black. These colours could represent zero, one, two, three, which is the basis of a quaternary numbering system. All that is needed are programs to turn data into an inkjet pattern and to read them back into a computer from a scanner. We would not have to fear losing our data to volatile memory in magnetic and optical media, and the carrier material being paper would last longer than the plastics used to make CDs and DVDs.

Why the warped image when printed on CD/DVD? Why do normal pictures (rectangular) become warped (the images look as if they are bent into a circle) when printed on CD or DVD discs? This happens with both inkjet printers or lightscribe. I tried cutting out the pics into a circular shape in photoshop but still the pictures turned out warped on the discs. Is there any software that could edit the images so that they will appear normal?

Epson Stylus C46 Series Inkjet Printer? Hi, I've got an Epson Stylus C46 Series Inkjet Printer and my computer's OS is Windows Vista. I haven't got the driver CD but it says on the Epson website that Vista installs the driver automatically. The ink levels are fine but it's printing horizontal banding with the black ink. I've used the nozzle check and head cleaning facility in the 'Printing Preferences' box but it's not working. I would check the nozzles manually but the 'Printing Preferences' box is missing the 'Replace a cartridge' option that will allow the cartridges to move in the printer to the replacement position. I think this is because the CD software hasn't been installed on the computer so it hasn't got all the features. It's also missing the Status Monitor 3 facility, can that and the other missing features be downloaded? What's the link for it if so? Does anyone with knowledge of Epson printers know how to resolve the problems, especially the horizontal banding one if it's not being fixed with the head cleaning facility? Thanks PS - I've tried pressing the button with the ink droplet and paper icons but it's not moving the cartridges to the cartridge replacement position (it instead thinks the printer's run out paper) so I can't get to them manually. Any ways of resolving this?

Epson R260 Photo Printer - Black and magenta streaks on my CDs/DVDs? I use this printer for printing inkjet printable CDs and DVDs. It is relatively new (less than 6 months). I just replaced three of the 6 ink cartridges. Now I am getting dotted lines down the pages/CDs for two of the colors I replaced (black and magenta). Does anyone know what could be causing this? I used Epson cartridges. I've been through the Nozzle Test and Head Cleaning but neither helped. Any suggestions?

I recently bought XP pro from someone for $40.00, but it was a scam! It was obviously downloaded and made from a file sharing site. The XP Pro cd itself supposedly has a watermark, which is a hologram that supposedly changes when you hold it up to the light. The cd I got is obviously a cd label made with an inkjet printer. There is no hologram, and the installation is full of errors. The most damning evidence is that when connecting to the microsoft website to get validation, it gives me the error saying that the product key is not valid. So i'm going to a store and buying the upgrade version. I wish i could find the full version for a cheaper price than $200.00, because i would rather have a fresh installation, but for now i'll just attempt an upgrade over this win98se installation i'm currently using.

CD DVD Disk Duplicator Supplier needed? I am looking for an economical seller of CD DVD Disk Duplicators and / or black only disk printers. I sing in a choir and we produce only about 100 - 200 CDs at a time. It doesn't sound much but I remember how long it took me last time to burn then inkjet print all these disks. The ones I have seen advertised on the web are supplied without drives which I find a bit odd. A bit like asking if someone wants wheels when buying a car ! Picking the right printer? Firstly, I'm really just annoyed at the Dymo disc painter. Sure, it's a little cheaper. But I can crank out 'painted' CDs from machines that are cheaper and can do more things. Like print, copy and fax. So what's the point? It might take longer, I don't care. It doesn't ship to Australia, anyway... But what I want is really to be able to print on CDs. And use the printer as not just a printer, but a copier and scanner. Colour. Fax doesn't matter, it can be there. In other words, a multifunction printer. But here's something. The only ones that offer CD printing are the photo line up printers. Inkjets. And I don't want them because I can get photos printed on Fujifilm Crystal Archive for only 15c. That's about the cheapest you can get, here. So, are there any laser printers that can print on CDs?
