Where do restaurateurs go to buy POS printers? Do you search online? Have a distributor? Yellow pages? I own a restaurant and need to purchase a new Epson Point of Sale printer, and I'm not sure how to go about it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The port on the back of the pritner is a db25 female (indentical to the ones commonly found on the back of computers) and the cable i am using to connect it goes straight to my serial port. the cable is a female to female since the serial port on the back of my computer is male (with the pins sticking out).

Why must Hp install all this POS software to be able to scan things? My HP printer wouldn't let me scan something because "The correct software isn't installed". Bah. So I had to download 800 MB worth of HP software 90% of which is total crap and now it's taking forever to install everything. There's got to be a better way, no?

Internet access for more than 253 users - would cascade routers help? Although it seems a huge number, by the time you add computers, laser printers, POS, network cameras and everything else, the 253 ip address limit might be a problem for a project we may be partly involved with. If the users were split into three roughly similar sized groups - and each group had no need to chat to other groups - (ONLY need to access the net), would the following work:- The internet connection is connected to the WAN of a small 5 port router (R1) R1 has three LAN outputs in use, each of these outputs (for groups 1-3) go into a decent quality wired router WAN port - which handles DHCP for that group of upto 253 clients. So you end up with 3 routers - all happily serving upto 253 users on their own separate networks - and then combining into one router (R1) to give a final connection to the net. Would that work - or would R1 need to be just a hub and NOT a router - I wasn't sure if just a hub would work - or if the other routers themselves needed to have something issue DHCP to them in the first place. I've read this through and I apologise for it not being too clear, not sure how I can clarify further though. Many thanks Mark

Does someone make a 100% compatible Parallel port card? I have been trying to hook up a Epson POS printer that worked fine with an older computer with a new computer that doesn't have a integrated Parallel port and I tried a couple PCI add-in cards and couldn't make it work. I called Epson and they told me that the printer won't work with add-in cards. I did some research and found that most cards emulate a Parallel port with their drivers. My logic is that If I get a DOS compatible card it works just like a motherboard port. But maybe it just uses special DOS drivers. Anybody have more information? Have a problem with Star SP200 reciept printer. Stops printing after 45 lines or so. Buffer overloaded? I'm not exactly sure what's wrong with it. It's printing from a POS software called RapidFire. Don't think it's a problem with the POS software printer settings, though, because the Windows test page stops after the same number of lines. Printer is connected via ethernet through serial adapter. Running Windows NT - no internet connection, really no possibility of updating drivers. This is a NEW problem, no idea how to solve it. IT or Networking Question for Business (2 computers side by side for retail)? I am trying to have 2 side by side computers with POS systems for our retail clothing store. What is the Font for receipt usually used ? Hi, I am really confuse right now. I am making an application for retail shop (POS), I am using an EPSON printer TM-U220. It's a dot matrix printer. These days, I collected some receipt from other store as samples. I count the columns, most of them have 40 columns. I've tried every font that my computer has with font size 9 and 10, but none of them can reach 40 columns. And some of the words of the fonts that I tried with font size 9 become hard to read. Is it because my printer only has 9 pins ? Alienware or gateway? Hey guys im going to update my gaming experience from this pos laptop this christmas. I am looking at 2 computers. here is the first one http://www.gateway.com/systems/product/529667893.php This is a nice computer. I can go buy it at my local best buy for about 1600 with the 22 in moniter nd a printer. I just want to no what one will give me a better gaming iexperience and a faster loading screens and no waiting time. I like them both but not good with specs So the question is " what desktop should i buy for a better gaimg experince"

What are some good affordable/free POS (point of sale) software programs?can i connect to regular computer?? hi. i am look for an offordable/free pos (point of sale) program for a small buisness. my buisness being a pharmacy. i also wanted to know how to connect this POS? i read some reviews on quickbooks pos (point of sale) and some said it was good while others said it was extremely horrid and hard to use and not worth the money? what about SAGE ( i believe that was the name) how is that? what are some free POS software? and where can i download them i also wanted to know, if i buy a pos software or download one, do i just install it on a regular pc (like maybe a extra one from home) n take it to my pharmacy and use it? i know that i will obviously need the barcode scanner the drawer n the recipt printer thing so basicly need to know how this thing gets connected and what software is good Thank You so much in advance BEST ANSWER GETS 10PTS!!!!!!
